It was delivered two days
ago and my husband put it together. I’m
afraid we’re going to have to return it.
Oh no, is there a problem
with the set?
Yes and no. It went together just fine.
OK.
But we tried to sit at it yesterday,
and the sun had made it really hot. We
hadn’t anticipated that.
Um, the sun made it hot?
Yes. Really, really hot.
Hmm...metal seats in the sun. Guess they have cloth seats in the car. Never heard of outdoor seat cushions in fashionable fabric. Or a beach towel. Because, seriously, metal outdoor furniture has been around for a long time.
ReplyDeleteSince I'm a history geek, I googled and found on wikipedia that metal garden furniture dates to the 1920s in the US, production was halted during WWII, and then by the 1950s it was a household item en masse. Though, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a history of the furniture during the Victorian age. Yep, another google search yielded a lot of 19th century pieces.
I'm still in awe of their lack of knowledge--to put it nicely.
